Requirements

Minimal webserver requirements for the TETSI driven website:

  • Apache 1.3.23
  • PHP 4.1.0 (not tested on PHP 5)
  • GD 2.0.1
  • MySQL 3.21

For text editing in the TETSI administrators area a revamped version (2005/06/07, by Timothy Bell) of the WYSIWYG editor Cross-Browser Rich Text Editor (by Kevin Roth) is used: <http://www.kevinroth.com/rte/demo.htm>

Installation

Here are few simple steps to install and run the TETSI engine on your website server:

  1. Download tetsi.zip file from the website.
  2. Unzip the file in your local disk to the /tetsi/ directory.
  3. Open the configuration.php file and edit
    1. database login information;
    2. specify the path to the directory of your pictures:

      For example, if your pictures are in the directory "photos", then you write
      $pathPhotos = "photos";
      If some of your pictures are in the main directory of your webpage, you may leave photos path information empty:
      $pathPhotos = "";

      Note, that you will have to upload (using FTP or web-based file uploading application) your JPG picture files to the directory specified in $pathPhotos. It is not possible to upload files using TETSI engine.
  4. Upload all files from /tetsi/ directory in your local disk to the main folder of your website server.
  5. Install TETSI engine by running install.php file through your browser.
    E.g., if your website is http://www.yourdomain.com/, then go to the page: http://www.yourdomain.com/install.php .
  6. Manage the content of your website through the administrator's area: http://www.yourdomain.com/admin/
    Username for the administrator's area is "admin". Password is "tetsi".
  7. Whenever you login the first time into administrator's area, you will have to change your "tetsi" password to a new one. Also you will be given the possibility to change "admin" username to a new one.

If you will have problems installing TETSI, please write us a message.

Menu Types

There are for types of possible menu layouts, while designing your TETSI driven website. To write a welcome message to website visitor's you may use a SINGLE PAGE TEXT menu type. To organize your stories, which may have one or more sections, use STORIES menu type. For grouping your travel pictures pictures use PICTURES menu type, which allows you to manage picture galleries, with one or more sections. The GUEST BOOK menu type will become handy once you will decide to have a guest book for your website. The user may create as many as he/she wants of menus, assigning one of 4 possible menu types. More about managing menus with website's "Administrator's area" in "Managing Menu Items"

Images

TETSI system supports JPEG picture format. In order to have pictures on your TETSI driven website, first you have to upload picture JPEG files to your webserver (using FTP, or maybe web-based image upload application provided by webserver administrators).

Administrator's Area

There are two kind of users for the Administrator's area - administrators (have full access to the website) and non-administrators (are allowed to manage only certain menu items). Logged-in users are automatically logged-off after 15 minutes, if no actions were taken. The value of 15 minutes could be changed in admin/class_sqlsession.php by writing a different value for var $MAX_AUTH_IDLE = 900;.

On the left of the administrator's area, the user may choose item to edit. By pressing menu names above the [LOG OUT] button on the left, the one may edit the contents of the particular menu item. Below the [LOG OUT] button the user may choose to edit menus, users, settings and personal profile.
